SUNY Students Visit =IcaruS= HQ
December 8, 2010Yesterday, a group of students led by their professor, SL name Nana Chingseng from SUNY New Paltz, visited with us at =IcaruS= Headquarters. We hope they enjoyed it as much as we did!
We started on the St. =IcaruS= Cemetery dock next door; once all the group members had arrived and oriented themselves, we proceeded to guide them on an hour-long tour of the place, passing through the cemetery, the treehouse, along the waterfront and ending with the resounding BOOM of our cannon on the castle battlement, showing them various things of interest along the way. The main focus of the visit was to demonstrate Leon’s abilities as a builder, content creator, and artist, and how he expresses his creativity in the things he makes in world, along with a sense of the real-world knowledge and skills needed to do it. We encouraged the students to take snapshots during the tour, and at the end, they dropped their snapshots into our SmartArt Slideshow Picture Frame. The results were fun to see.
We were impressed with the students’ curiosity, humour and enthusiasm during the visit and very much enjoyed having them with us. Below are some photos of the visit.

very nice on the student visit and it sounds as though you had plenty of content to make it very interesting! =)
thanks Ener for taking time to read about it and respond. we tried to emphasize that virtual worlds can tap into many skills. i think we learned as much from the experience as they did!
